Scrap Mechanic Mods - Workshop Picks by Purpose

These are the six Scrap Mechanic mods I recommend for specific jobs: three post-1.0 candidates for current testing and three Workshop classics for legacy Creative builds. I explain what each mod adds, who should use it, why it earns a place here, and when I would avoid it.

Read the numbers correctly

Downloads, users, and Steam's actual data

Lifetime subscriptions

The closest public cumulative-install signal. It includes past subscriptions and is not a verified unique download count.

Current subscribers

Accounts currently subscribed to the Workshop item. This is the best public proxy for current users, not a count of people actively playing.

Workshop views

Reach for the item page. Views can explain discovery, but they do not prove an install, successful launch, or 1.0 compatibility.

Ranking comes from Steam's “Total Unique Subscribers” order. Counts are a July 30, 2026 snapshot from Steam's published-file data and will change.

Updated after 1.0

Current Scrap Mechanic mods worth testing

These items were updated after the July 24 release. That makes them more relevant to a search for Scrap Mechanic 1.0 mods, but every scripted part, save, multiplayer session, and later game patch still needs a clean test.

BETTER SURVIVAL Chapter 2

Players who want a less grind-heavy 1.0 Survival run

A Survival overhaul that reduces repetitive gathering, shortens crafting and refining waits, and makes a fresh Chapter 2 run move faster.

Why I recommend it

This is the strongest current Scrap Mechanic Survival mod candidate in this list because it was built and updated after 1.0, targets a clear player pain point, and documents exactly how progression changes.

  • Halves crafting time and raises refining output by roughly three to ten times.
  • Raises mining and natural-resource yields, increases stack sizes, and halves selected trader costs.
  • Doubles engine efficiency and triples much of the loot, shifting the focus from grind to building.

HEAVY-DUTY VEHICLE PARTS

Builders who want functional truck, towing, and machinery components

A fast-growing vehicle pack for highway trucks, construction equipment, aircraft cockpits, mining machines, and recovery builds.

Why I recommend it

It is a practical post-1.0 recommendation rather than a cosmetic filler pack: recent updates, a focused industrial theme, and scripted recovery and logic tools give builders several new systems to work with.

  • Adds fifth wheels, recovery ropes, tow hooks, winches, seats, wheels, tires, hubs, propellers, and cockpit controls.
  • CB radios and antennas transmit logic wirelessly; several adjustable parts include their own settings panels.
  • Includes English and Chinese localization and host-only safeguards for the world-cleaner tool.

Solid

Creative combat prototypes, aircraft, ships, and large machines

A compact but ambitious interactive-parts collection for guided weapons, aircraft, ships, large builds, and experimental control systems.

Why I recommend it

Solid is worth watching because it was updated just after 1.0 and covers unusual jobs that broad block packs rarely solve, from mouse-delta controls to configurable buoyancy and build cameras.

  • Adds predictive homing magnets, flares, configurable missiles, targeting pods, and laser-guided weapons.
  • Includes adjustable wings, thrusters, parachutes, buoyancy barrels, inertia blocks, and an infinite floor.
  • Build camera, mouse-delta input, single-tick buttons, and improved logic gates help with complex creations.

Huge legacy audiences

Popular Creative mods to verify first

New Legend, Interactive Parts, and Wings answer common searches for building packs, legacy blueprint dependencies, and a Scrap Mechanic airplane mod. Their recorded update dates predate 1.0, so install them for a clear purpose—not simply because the subscriber number is large.

Last recorded update 2022-06-17

New Legend Mod (Creative)

The Workshop's number-one item by total unique subscribers, combining a very large Creative parts library with a huge legacy blueprint ecosystem.

Why I recommend it

New Legend matters because it sits at the top of the all-time Workshop ranking and thousands of older creations depend on it. It is a preservation and variety pick, not evidence of current 1.0 support.

Use with care: The Workshop item predates 1.0 by years and Steam marks it as incompatible. Use it only after checking the author's page, required items, and recent player reports.

Interactive Parts Mod by Lord Pain Steam Workshop preview

Interactive Parts Mod by Lord Pain

A classic functional-parts library used by thousands of older logic systems, vehicles, mechanisms, and downloadable blueprints.

Why I recommend it

Its #3 all-time subscriber ranking and more than 12,000 dependent Workshop items make it essential context for legacy blueprints, even though it is not a safe default for a new 1.0 world.

Use with care: Its last recorded update is from 2020. Keep a legacy mod list with the blueprint or world that needs it and never test removal on the only save.

Wings mod Steam Workshop preview
Last recorded update 2020-12-24

Wings

A purpose-built aerodynamics mod that adds real lift, control surfaces, drag reduction, and diagnostic tools for flying creations.

Why I recommend it

Wings remains the clearest answer to the long-tail search for a Scrap Mechanic airplane mod: it models lift instead of merely adding aircraft-shaped blocks and ranks #6 all time.

Use with care: The item has not been updated since 2020. Confirm 1.0 behavior in a clean Creative test world before loading an aircraft collection that depends on it.

Where my picks sit in Workshop rankings

This table is a cross-check, not the recommendation list. It shows why three of my legacy picks matter in the Workshop ecosystem and identifies other top-ranked dependencies without pretending every old popular mod belongs in a current 1.0 setup.

How to install Scrap Mechanic mods safely

A five-minute test routine

A Workshop item can affect parts, scripts, recipes, world rules, or the creations already saved in a world.

  1. Read the Workshop page.

Check update date, game mode, manual steps, dependencies, and comments.

  2. Back up the world.

Keep a copy outside the active save folder before changing the mod set.

  3. Use a disposable test world.

Confirm parts load, scripts run, and the game can save and reopen.

  4. Match multiplayer clients.

Every player should use the same branch, mod item, and dependencies.

Scrap Mechanic mod FAQ

Quick answers for the compatibility, download-count, installation, and achievement questions players ask after the 1.0 release.

01

What are the best Scrap Mechanic mods after 1.0?

For a current test, start with a mod updated after the July 2026 1.0 release. Better Survival Chapter 2 is the strongest Survival rebalance in this shortlist, while Heavy-Duty Vehicle Parts and Solid are more suitable for Creative building. Recent updates improve the odds of compatibility, but they are not a guarantee.

02

How many downloads does a Scrap Mechanic Workshop mod have?

Steam does not expose a verified public download counter for these Workshop items. This guide therefore shows lifetime subscriptions as the closest cumulative install signal, current subscribers as active subscriptions, and Workshop views as page reach. None of those numbers equals confirmed players or unique downloads.

03

Why are Scrap Mechanic mods not working after 1.0?

The official 1.0 guidance says some mods still work, but Parts mods and Custom Games are especially likely to need author updates. Old scripts, missing dependencies, a mismatched game branch, or loading a world with a changed mod list can all cause problems.

04

How do I install Scrap Mechanic mods from the Steam Workshop?

For a normal Parts mod, subscribe on Steam, open the world settings, and enable the item with every required dependency. Read the author instructions first: Better Survival Chapter 2 is an exception that uses a manual file install and the -dev launch option.

05

Do Scrap Mechanic mods disable achievements?

Do not assume every Workshop subscription has the same effect. The Better Survival Chapter 2 author specifically states that its manual -dev setup disables Steam achievements. Check each mod page before using it in an achievement-focused save.
