Beginner Guide - Crash Site to Mechanic Station
Enter the crashed ship to start Getting Started, follow the path opposite its entrance to the pond, fill the Water Bucket, extinguish the three marked fires inside, recover the nearby Master Battery, restore ship power, reconnect the console with the Connect Tool, and take the Logbook before leaving for the Mechanic Station.

Old Creative worlds can load in 1.0; old Survival worlds need a legacy Steam branch. Back up the complete save before switching, test Parts or Custom Game mods on a copy, and use the 1.0.3 public baseline before diagnosing raid, Vault, underground, or Thruster problems.

Crashed Maintenance Ship

Early-game hub · LowMechanic Station
A recognizable station marked by a large illuminated wrench, commonly used as an early workshop, storage point, and vehicle base.
Produce logistics · ModeratePacking Station
A road-side destination used in produce logistics. Its value comes from turning farming into a transport problem rather than a chest-management problem.
Trading location · ModerateFarmers Hideout
A progression and trading location where prepared deliveries become useful equipment. The route matters as much as the destination because cargo can be bulky.
Hostile structure · HighWarehouse
A large multi-level combat and exploration landmark associated with ranged bot threats, valuable materials, and difficult recovery runs.
1.0 story location · HighGrowlabs
Growlabs are part of the expanded 1.0 Survival world and story. They combine exploration, combat, and progression in spaces where preparation matters.
Workshop
Post-1.0 mod candidates with install and risk notes.

FAQ
High-frequency field questions from Crash Site through Excavation Island.
How do I get started in Scrap Mechanic 1.0?
Enter the crashed ship, take the Water Bucket from the nearby pond, extinguish the three marked interior fires, recover the ruin's Master Battery, restore ship power, reconnect the console, and open the Logbook before leaving for the Mechanic Station.
Where is the Water Bucket at the Scrap Mechanic Crash Site?
Activate Getting Started inside the ship, then follow the path opposite the entrance to the nearby pond. The Water Bucket is at the pond edge beside the farming tutorial supplies.
Does the first Master Battery power the Mechanic Station?
No. The Master Battery from the ruin near the Crash Site powers the crashed ship. The Mechanic Station objective marks a separate battery in the station's bunk-room area.
Can an old Survival world load in 1.0?
Old Survival worlds require the older Steam branch. Back up important worlds before switching versions.
Why does another player's map not match mine?
Survival worlds are generated. Navigate with roads, large structures, and location roles rather than copied coordinates.
Do older mods work after 1.0?
Some can, but Parts and Custom Games mods are particularly likely to need an update. Test a copied world first.
Where should I look when a quest will not progress?
Confirm the current objective, remove mods for a copied test save, and check the latest patch before repeating a dangerous story area.
How do I start Excavation Island mining?
Bring lights, food perks, a Spudgun, and a repairable mining vehicle. Scout with the Ore Prospector, dig with a Plasma Drill, and process ore behind the dig face while watching for Cablebots and Minerbots.
