Choose this build when
  • Finding roads, landmarks, and safe approaches
  • Long scouting loops with light cargo
  • Generated terrain where recovery matters more than armor
Choose another approach when
  • The trip requires bulk cargo
  • The vehicle is being turned into a mobile base
  • Heavy armor raises the center of mass above the seat

Workshop baseline

Use these dimensions and targets for the first working version. They are a practical starting layout, not a fixed in-game preset; adjust them only after the baseline passes its tests.

04 / Build in testable systems

Construction sequence

Do not place the next system until the checkpoint under the current stage is true. That keeps steering, motion, power, and storage failures separate.

01
Stage goal

Build around recovery

Keep the frame light and reachable after a rollover.

  1. Use a short 10 × 16 frame.
  2. Reserve clear Lift points at both ends.
  3. Mount seat, engine, and chest low inside the wheelbase.
02
Stage goal

Set moderate suspension travel

Follow terrain without turning the scout into a tall bouncer.

  1. Install matching Off-Road Suspension units.
  2. Leave full compression clearance around every wheel.
  3. Begin with equal settings and an unloaded chassis.
03
Stage goal

Add the expedition loadout

Carry essentials without becoming a cargo truck.

  1. Mount one chest for priority loot.
  2. Protect fuel near the center.
  3. Aim Headlights below the driver's eye line.
04
Stage goal

Run the recovery route

Test rough terrain, a controlled rollover, and a damaged corner.

  1. Cross a ditch diagonally at low power.
  2. Tip the scout safely and recover it with the Lift.
  3. Remove one cosmetic corner and confirm steering remains usable.
05 / Use the right tool at the right moment

Workshop tools

Each tool below has a specific job in this build. Finish that job, then move to the next stage instead of wiring and tuning everything at once.

06 / Check every signal

Test bench

Run these checks with the normal load fitted. If one fails, make the listed physical change and repeat that same test before changing another variable.

TestPass conditionIf it fails
Diagonal ditch

At least three wheels retain useful contact

Reduce stiffness or increase safe clearance

Controlled rollover

Lift reaches a structural point

Expose recovery blocks

Loaded steering

One chest does not cause understeer

Move storage forward and lower

08 / Adapt after it works

Scenario variants

Change the proven baseline for the route or job you actually have. Every upgrade adds a tradeoff, so repeat the test bench afterward.

Road scout

Use Sport Suspension and lower ride height

Less terrain clearance

Night survey

Add side work lights with separate control

More power use and glare management

Two-player scout

Add one protected passenger seat

Longer frame or less cargo room
